Abstract
With the intension of studying the probable correlation between the span of extermities and ball-throwing distance and dangling time with flexed arms(which are items of the physical strength measurement system for an applicant for admission to a high school established by Ministry of Education), the biometrical measurement and athlletic record examination were performed in 3748 Korean female raning from 13 to 15 years of age. The ball-throwing records represent the extending power of upper extermities, and the dangling records represent the flexing power of upper extermities respeivelyct. The results obtained were as follows: 1) Means of the span of upper extermities records increased with age(148.6§¯. in 13, 152.1§¯. in 14, 154.3§¯. in 15 years of age). 2) Bill-throwing record increased with age(16.5m. in13,17.6m. in 14, 19.4m. in 15 years of age). 3) Dangling time records increased with age(7.8sec. im 13, 8.3sec. in 14, 12.5sec. in15 years of age). 4) The correlation coefficients bwtween the ball-throwing record and span of upper extermities were low and positive(0.279 in 13, 0.220 in 14, 0.159 in 15 years of age). The regression coefficients between span and ball-throwing were 0.1650 in 13, 0.1607 in 14, 0.1340 in 15 years of age. 5) The correlation between the span and gangling time showed almost negligible values of the correlation coefficient(-0.076 in 13, -0.049 in 14, -0.006 in 15 years of age). The regression coefficients between span and dangling time were -0.0832 in 13, -0.0645 in 14, -0.0107 in 15 years of age.
